Equine Nutrition

Balance Equine Consulting offers independent equine nutrition advice.  Elisabeth works with you to formulate the optimal diet for your individual horse or barn using products that are available in your area.  There are such a wide variety of feeds and supplements on the market it is almost impossible to know what your horse really needs.  Allow Balance Equine to eliminate the guesswork with an easy to understand plan based on the latest scientific research.  Whether you want to help your horse compete at their best, help reduce your feed bill, or need advice on a specific condition or problem, Balance Equine Consulting can help.

On-site Consultations

For those located in the Southeastern United States who desire an in person consultation, Elisabeth is available to come to your farm.  She will come prepared to take pasture and hay samples for analysis by Equi-Ana lytical and spend approximately one hour per horse discussing background information, nutritional concerns, body condition, and goals.  Balance Equine will provide a complete diet analysis showing any imbalances, deficiencies, or toxicities and a new customized feeding plan addressing any concerns or issues your horse may be having.  It will suggest certain feeds or supplements and exactly how much to feed.  This plan can be discussed with an in-person follow up visit, phone call, or videoconference.  A generalized plan is available for farms with several horses of similar nutritional needs that do not necessarily need individual feeding plans.

  • 1 to 4 horses: $150/horse
  • 5 to 10 horses: $125/horse
  • 11+ horses: $100/horse
  • Generalized plan: $250/farm

Remote Consultations

While on-farm visits are more personable, they are not always feasible. For remote counseling, please submit the Nutrition Information Worksheet and for the most accurate analysis possible, follow the instructions on How to Sample for Pasture and Hay Analysis. Based on the information provided, Balance Equine will provide a complete diet analysis showing any imbalances, deficiencies, or toxicities.
